Handwriting Journey: Trusting the Timing in Learning and Life

by | Jul 9, 2025 | Handwriting

Over the past year, I’ve poured my heart into developing my handwriting concept, one rooted in the belief that parents can feel empowered and confident in supporting their children. Through this journey, I’ve had the privilege of meeting incredible families who embraced the process wholeheartedly. Their trust, openness, and willingness to try something different have meant the world to me.

I’ve found myself having conversations I never imagined I’d be part of; conversations that challenged and excited me, that pushed me to see myself and my work in entirely new ways. I’ve had to step into the role of not just a teacher, but also an innovator, advocate, and sometimes even a student.

But not everything has gone the way I imagined or hoped. Some doors didn’t fully open. It wasn’t a hard no, but a gentle “not right now.” And that phrase, though painful at times, has taught me a lot about timing, patience, and resilience.

I truly believe in the power of the right timing, the right people, and the right circumstances. If something is meant for you, it will happen. Eventually.

And I’ve realised this lesson mirrors the very thing I teach: handwriting.

When we support children in learning to write, we must ask ourselves if it is the right time for them to do so. Have they developed the mental readiness, the fine motor strength, and the emotional space to take it on? Sometimes, the kindest thing we can say is “not right now.” And that’s okay. It doesn’t mean never. It simply means not yet.

So here I am, reminding myself—just like I remind the children and families I support—to trust the process. Keep dreaming. Hold the vision. Work with heart.

Because results will come. In their own time.
